The Blob Company is an independent advisory and development platform founded by Matthieu Gallego, dedicated to the strategic structuring and early-stage development of data center projects across Europe and selected international markets.

Positioning & Role

The Blob Company operates as:

-A Board of Advisors platform for developers, investors, and infrastructure stakeholders

-An independent strategic advisor on hyperscale, HPC, and AI-ready data center projects

-A structuring interface between landowners, utilities, investors, operators, and public authorities

This positioning allows for full independence and conflict-free advisory, complementing PMs, engineers, EPCs, and contractors.

The Blob Company focuses on upstream, high-value advisory activities, including:

-Data Center Strategy & Market Positioning with definition of asset typologies (hyperscale, colocation, HPC, AI-ready), Market analysis, benchmarking, and investor-grade positioning and go-to-market strategies, including off-market sourcing and JV structuring

-Land & Power Structuring with qualification of powered and power-ready land, grid and utility interface (RTE, ENEDIS, and international utilities) and MW IT phasing strategies, time-to-power optimization, and CAPEX trade-offs

-Investor & Developer Advisory with early-stage technical and strategic due diligence (pre-FID / upstream TDD), SPV and joint-venture structuring between developers, operators, and investors and Critical review of business plans and financial models from an infrastructure perspective

-Ecosystem & Stakeholder Interface with targeted introductions to hyperscalers, operators, utilities, EPCs, and OEMs, Support in regulatory and institutional discussions and advisory support during capital raising processes and competitive tenders

At Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB), I lead the Data Center business for France, Luxembourg, and Morocco, with responsibilities spanning across strategy, client engagement, project delivery, and team leadership.

Commercial Development & Strategy

-Defining and executing the growth strategy for RLB’s data center offering in the region.

-Managing relationships with investors, developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, and end-users.

-Leading RFP responses and shaping technical and commercial proposals tailored to client needs.

Project Leadership & Advisory

-Acting as Project Director or Senior Advisor on complex data center programs, from feasibility to commissioning.

-Overseeing project management, cost management, and strategic advisory on both greenfield developments and retrofit/upgrade projects.

-Supporting clients on site selection, CAPEX/OPEX planning, ICPE and ISO compliance, contractual frameworks (e.g., FIDIC), and joint venture structuring.

Team Management & Expertise Development

-Building and leading a multidisciplinary data center team, including project managers, cost consultants, engineers, and commissioning experts.

-Developing internal tools and methodologies specific to data center delivery and performance benchmarking.

-Representing RLB in the data center ecosystem, including industry events (e.g., Datacloud, DCD), technical working groups, and European standardization efforts.

Leading Data Center and industrial assets sector in France for Team, leading a team of 61 consultants (Project manager, Cost manager, Data center & manufacturing consultant experts). With more than 1,5bn€ euros CAPEX delivered in 2024 in Project and Cost management, my business unit is growing by 56% per year for 3 years now with Data center, Industrial & Logistics and Life & Sciences sectors.

My role is also to make growing and developing as head of Data center and Industrial manufacturing sector including takes responsibility for developing new business opportunities with existing and new Turner & Townsend clients and identifies and acts upon cross-selling opportunities. Accountable for recruitment and P&L. I opened the Net Zero advisory and Life & sciences services in 2021 in France and the Industrial Project Control services in France to the same year.

I also delivering as Data center & Manufacturing Project Director for the end-to-end service delivery, on large and complex projects.
